Open Health was created to serve the entertainment industry’s unique healthcare and compliance needs in response to the Affordable Care Act (ACA). As a program founded by Cast & Crew in 2014, Open Health addresses the complexities faced by entertainment companies employing “gig” workers—professionals who work on temporary projects with various employers, often with intermittent employment periods. Through the Open Health Trust, which holds payroll dollars dedicated to healthcare coverage, we ensure seamless management of healthcare, COBRA, and compliance reporting for production teams across movies, television, animation, and music.
